Hey New Yorkers! Wednesday May 11th, 6pm, is the final Hand of Fashion talk at F.I.T. And it's Aurora James, founder of Brother Vellies and girl crush of any shoe lover with half a brain. The talk is free but you must RSVP here.
Brother Vellies riff off of traditional Moroccan, South African and Maasai styles, and are mostly made of kudu leather which is overabundant on account of mandated culling. You've probably seen the CFDA-annointed footwear around: Kanye is a fan, having shown up at Aurora's first NYFW presentation. Personally I fainted clean away when I first spotted the springbok Erongo at a StyleLikeU party...
The talk is, as ever, hosted by the very entertaining Simone Cipriani founder of the U.N.'s Ethical Fashion Initiative, which helps pair African artisans with luxury brands.
