Impeccable full length gown cut in a delicate-looking but surprisingly robust gold lace in a symmetrical arrangement. The shape is plain so as not to quarrel with the fabric: a simple shift with long sleeves and a high round neck. Self buttons at the cuffs for better fit. It's a size 4 (on the bigger side of 4), and fits close with no stretch.
STORY: Blass was one of my dearest friends; a mentor, and like a father to me. So it is the RARE time that I will ever part with a dress of his!! He made countless couture evening dresses, suits, coats, my wedding dress, my pregnancy clothes and all manner of things for me over our 25 year friendship. I have elected to keep ALL of them. He even made my daughter's christening dress. I shall leave most of them to my precious daughter, and donate a few to the Indianapolis Museum of Art, which houses a wonderful collection of this legendary American designer. He created this gold lace dress for me for an important event I was attending in the 90's. I recall sitting in his office at 550 7th Avenue in NYC, watching him draw a sketch of this dress (I have that drawing framed on my dressing room wall, along with so many other custom designs he did for me) as he smoked cigarettes and dished with me. It still seems like yesterday. This dress is spectacular, and a real piece of my heart. I only hope that the buyer will love its connection to Blass, as well as the simplicity and elegance of its design. xxxx Nina
