Eyecatching or what? This is a two-tone cowlneck silk slip-on dress (no fastenings) in a tapered silhouette with a dropwaist in gorgeous screaming fuchsia and kingfisher. There's a slit in back for ease of movement, and the batwing sleeves are bracelet length with a button at the cuff. By Argenti, a defunct NYC label, and an early adopter of eco principles. Made in Hong Kong, size 6 but fine on smaller and a bit bigger (though watch the hip which narrows: see measurements) owing to the style. According to the RN# the design dates from about 1977, but it looks so 80s, so that's what I'm saying.
Measurements: Bust 50", waist 48" (both loose fitting), hip 36", length 36"
STORY: It was mom's! She was, and remains, a fearless dresser with her finger on the pulse. My inspiration! And I don't know--I'm a fairly bold dresser but this has defeated me in the three years since I stol--borrowed it from mom's closet. I lent it to a dear friend who wore it to the most fabulous week-long 30th birthday party on a Caribbean Island, so I feel it's had a good life. (Yes it was drycleaned)
