Iconic Gucci (Tom Ford) Fox Collar Coat

FROM CINDY GALLOP'S CLOSET

THE most wanted coat from Tom Ford for Gucci F/W 1996 (the one with the slinky jersey dresses with cutouts). It was a small run, and Ford reportedly gave one of these to his grandma and I know Kate Moss has one very similar. It's very fine weave ivory wool, three buttons, covered placket, back vent. The two chest pockets and two flap pockets are still sewn up, because: never worn! Of course the main event is the huge blonde fox collar which is beyond glamorous. No defects, stains or marks.

Lapel: 6 inches wide, 19 inches deep.

Length 44 inches, Shoulder width 16 inches, Chest 16 inches, Sleeve length 24 inches

Back vent 19 inches

STORY: I never did wear this divine coat, though I had to have it. I bought just about every piece from every collection Tom Ford did for Gucci and YSL (only slight exaggeration). It was indimitading/sexy/playful: right for my role at the time. A couple of years ago I got a call from the Tom Ford people. "We hear you have an amazing collection of Tom's pieces," they said. "Would you consider parting with them?" Well, I thought, maybe now I'm a startup entrepreneur not raking in a massive salary...  "Sure," I said. "How much are you offering?" "Oh, no money. We thought you could donate it to our archive." So I told them no thanks and put them on Refashioner.
