1. It's about sharing
"Collaborative Consumption"
"Social Shopping"
Marketing buzzwords? Yes, unless they're true.
We've made ReFashioner a place to open your style to the world. It's about sartorial sisterhood. We're not part of some starlet's PR strategy. We don't pay bloggers to shill for us. We're not data mining for big brands. There are no click-thrus to major retailers. Actually we're not selling anything. You are. And we are. To each other.
(And you can even bypass the money part.)
2. Fashion is emotional
Clothes aren't cloaking devices. They reveal as much as they cover up, and they always make us feel things.
Things like…
Happiness (the perfect find)
Misery (Feet. Hurt)
Love (Junya! Dries! Ann!)
Anxiety (does it suit me?)
Invincibility ($5,000 of power leather)
Joy (New shoes)
Triumph (scored the last pair)
Security (a uniform)
And...? (tweet yours @refashioner --we'll add the best!)

3. Style goes deep
We believe that changing your outer skin changes you. We think dressing is the most intimate of all the arts, and we're all artists. When the image we present to the world matches and magnifies what's inside us, then we are stronger. Then we can change the world. Style can change the world.
4. Shopping is mystical
Clothes have souls and they speak to us. Whether we're at Barneys or the Paris puces or even Zara, some days we're 'on', pulling find after find (other days not so much). That special piece waits just for you—it's as if only you could even see it. Maybe it's marked down inexplicably lower than anything else on the rack. We think the hunt is half the fun.
5. Shed your skins
We evolve, and so do our wardrobes. Different look, different outlook. Change is, famously, scary, but clothes help us to (metaphor alert) peel off the old and try something new. It's not recycling, it's not upcycling, it's hautecycling.

6. Buy Quality
We want to support the great designers, not the planet wreckers. We believe a great piece that completes every look and makes you feel queenly is ten times better than ten fast fashion fixes. We know the work of top designers is the least expensive of the panoply of luxury items. (But we still love a deal :) We are aware of where we spend. Call it Conscious Fashion.

7. Keep it moving
Stagnation is a horrible word. Hoarding isn't great either. We like to shop. Maybe too much. But the flow can't be all one way. Pareto principle wardrobes—80% of wear from 20% of garments—could fade away if we could (hey, Jude) let it out AND let it in. Set your couture free!
8. Give, give, give. (And receive)
We earned our spectacular shopping karma through a lifetime of giving stuff away—the law of abundance works for clothes too. We believe in generosity. Give it away, sell it for less, shower the world with whatever riches you've got, and you just feel better. Bonus: it always comes back.
9. Feel the fear and wear it anyway
Oh we are so bored with safe dressing. Rules. Being age-appropriate, size-appropriate, just: appropriate. Worrying. We should dress with abandon, throw caution to the wind, and sometimes look silly. Miuccia Prada said: "Women always try to tame themselves as they get older, but the ones who look the best are often a bit wilder." Amen.
10. Fashion is not a dictatorship
We don't want to be told, we want to be inspired. We want everyone to inspire each other. And that's what we're doing here...
