Iconic Margiela Line 6 "Short" Skirt

FROM KATE SEKULES'S CLOSET

A Maison Martin Margiela wraparound skirt in bright pillarbox red from the first or second year of Line 6: 1997/1998.  It's in a substantial brushed cotton --almost stiff but still very soft--and features an exposed zipper that runs more than halfway down the left side, and has an excellent long twill ribbon pull. It's size 4/6. There are deep side inset pockets and one in back, a back loop and the word "SHORT" stamped inside the waistband. (Yes he did do "LONG"). That said, it's not terribly short: hits above the knee...

STORY: ...And there's the problem. Knees. Me and my knees. Not in love. Much as I adore it, and realize it is a rarity--this skirt does not suit me.  Like many of its sisters, it has #GoneVintageInMyCloset. Martin Margiela in person was. along with his team in white coats, designing  every piece back then--it was still the heyday. So I've clung on just in case my knees suddenly improve.
