Hey New Yorkers! Wednesday May 11th, 6pm, is the final Hand of Fashion talk at F.I.T. And it's Aurora James, founder of Brother Vellies and girl crush of any shoe lover with half a brain. The talk is free but you must RSVP here.

Brother Vellies riff off of traditional Moroccan, South African and Maasai styles, and are mostly made of kudu leather which is overabundant on account of mandated culling. You've probably seen the CFDA-annointed footwear around: Kanye is a fan, having shown up at Aurora's first NYFW presentation. Personally I fainted clean away when I first spotted the springbok Erongo at a StyleLikeU party...

The talk is, as ever, hosted by the very entertaining Simone Cipriani founder of the U.N.'s Ethical Fashion Initiative, which helps pair African artisans with luxury brands.

See you there. Scroll down for detailed flyer.

ps Hoping Aurora will be rocking her Marina or Maasai sandal...

Loved this talk with Aurora James, it was one of my favorite of the 10 in Hand of Fashion. She was completely disarming when talking about complex ethical issues like fur, stereotypes, women in business, and the product is fabulous! The next super cool thing we’re up to is the Summer Institute; Sustainability and Textiles 6th till 9th June – a 4 day conference with speakers, panels and hands on workshops, the key note is Simone Cipriani, the founder of the Ethical Fashion Initiative and the man behind the Hand of Fashion speaker series, so you know its going to be good ;-)
